Madesimo is one of the most friendly Italian village Skiman has visited. The people are warm, and the snow is dry, cold, and abundant.
Madesimo is the small village/resort Deb and I visited on a scouting mission two years ago. We absolutely fell in love with the village and the people. The 4 star Hotel Andossi was excellent, with off-the-charts food. You walk to the lifts. You walk to everything. The skiing region here receives a ton of snow, consistently boasting the deepest snow base in all of the Alps. We were there in late March and it was dumping. The untracked powder was there all day long, right next to and even on the trails! The area has decent terrain in bounds. You will feel like it is your own private resort. It is the most uncrowded ski resort Skiman has experienced in all of his European adventures. There are enough trails to keep intermediate skiers busy and a lot of expert terrain in and outside of the resort. It is not a huge resort, but the great snow quality and non-crowds make it a ski paradise. Because of all these factors, we decided to offer Madesimo as one of our European ski weeks in March 2014. We came back with 38 friends and they all concurred with our assessment of this resort. Everyone loved the village and hotel and the experts were dazzled by the huge backcountry skiing and especially the Heli – Skiing! We flew 7 times. It was untracked, spectacular terrain, huge and wide open skiing… and it was AFFORDABLE. Literally, the heli-days in Madessimo are less than half the cost of a typical Candadian or American heli-ski day. There was little to not love about Madesimo, but I think for us the best part about Madesimo was the people who went out of their way to make our group feel welcome. Case in point: When Skiman finished paying for our guides at the ski school they gave him a case of local wine as a gift! That has never happened at any resort… ever! That lead to an impromptu wine tasting that made our farewell party very sweet. It is a special place, indeed.
When we were pondering where to go in Italy 2016 for our 21st Alps Adventure, Madesimo was high on our list of candidates. We have never repeated a resort after only two years. We love Madesimo so much we decided to break new ground and return earlier than ever before. We just love it there and we know you will as well.
The air for this tour
Last year for the first time we used Emerites Air because we had heard great things about their service and their incredible offer on our group rate. They lived up to their reputation and all of our skiers from last year’s Europe tours raved about Emerites. So, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Emerites has once again offered us a great group rate for this year’s tours to Europe.
How it works: This tour starts with air originating from JFK airport. Like a cruise, it is each passenger’s responsibility to get to the departure point. It is requisite for you to get to/from JFK on your own. This air segment to/from your U.S. home airport is NOT included in the package price. Of course, if you need assistance in booking required flights, we are happy to book any required air for you. Just ask.
Air taxes and fuel charges: All international flights charge fuel surcharges and landing taxes. These are not included in the package price, as they can fluctuate up until the time of final payment in January. Currently, these taxes and fees are @$599 per person.
Note to Western U.S. flyers: The Emerites flights do not return back into JFK until late afternoon at the end of the tour. It makes finding connecting flights to airports in the West difficult or impossible. Therefore, it may be necessary for you to have to spend a night at a JFK-area hotel and book your return flight home on the day following your return landing at JFK.

Madesimo is not a huge resort, but with great in bounds runs like this one, it skis huge. Some Morningstar skiers ripping it up 2 years ago.
Trip Bonuses:
Experts: This is a taylor-made tour for skiers who love the back country and want to heli-ski. All of our back-country guided skiers who joined us two years ago will attest to the fact that Madesimo offers some outstanding off-trail skiing and heli-skiing. There are several in-bounds runs that are rated in the top 10 in Europe for black runs. The Caniloni is a spectacular long bump run, and there are some very steep very long chutes to be had, all lift-serviced! The back country away from the resort is truly remarkable, and the helicopter skiing is top shelf. The huge terrain accessible by helicopter is as good as it gets. If the weather cooperates, we will be skiing some HUGE peaks and valleys that will put a smile on your face and memories that you will never forget. The heli-skiing is a BARGAIN here! It costs a fraction of heli in Canada and America. Of course, the guided backcountry skiing is open to experts only. There are additional fees for the guides and the flights. If you love backcountry skiing, it is worth every penny. Skiman guarantees that you will love this skiing!

Deb on Mt. Blanc glacier last year in Italy. She would love to ski with you ladies during her free intermediate clinics in Madesimo.
Upper Beginner and Intermediate women’s ski clinics by Deb: Skiman’s wife has learned a lot of tips from her hubby and would like to share these with the ladies on the tour. She will offer two morning sessions during the week to work on fine-tuned your ski skills. Each session will be followed by a lunch at one of the wonderful restaurants in the resort. The lesson is free, the lunch is on you. No stress, no pressure….have some fun and get better at skiing.. Why not?

Dario, Deb, John Frasca (VP of Ski.com, our partner for our Euro trips) and Francesco Camoti (Director of Tourism, Madesimo) enjoy a meal at Dario’s restaurant, which will serve you lunch on the snowmobile day.
Snowmobile day trip: We will offer a guided snowmobile day where we drive snow machines up a road closed in the winter. It goes all the way to the border of Switzerland. The scerery is breathtaking and the ride is easy. Anyone can do this! After the ride we will have a 2 hour lunch at a restaurant that is in a building built in the 1600’s! Dario and his daughter Nadine have some of the best food we have had in all of Italy. They are very charming hosts. Deb and I had the most enjoyable time with them. We cannot wait to take you back there with us.
St. Moritz, Switzerland: We will offer a day trip to the famous ski resort and fab village of St. Moritz,, Switzerland, only one hour away. You will be able to ski St. Moritz or just hang out with the jet set beautiful people

Skiman having a blast on a snowmobile tour up a road closed in the winter to a pass between Italy and Switzerland. We followed up the ride with a 2 hour lunch at a restaurant built in the 1600’s! You can do this same day if you join us in Madesimo. It will put a big smile on your face to be sure.

The Hotel Andossi is four-star all the way. The spa is as good as it gets with steam, hot tub, sauna, and pool. The building is gorgeous and the food is abundant and delicious. It is Italian charm at its finest.
Doing 2 or 3 ski weeks: We have many of our skier friends that want to save money and stay for more than one ski week. If you have the resources and the time, this is a great idea. You have to pay to fly over to Europe and back, so the longer you stay, the more value you are getting out of your ticket. You save money on each additional ski week. Take $100 off the added ski week(s) cost, since there is no air component needed. You also save a bundle by not having to pay the air taxes for additional ski weeks. NOTE: For all skiers doing multiple weeks, there will be an additional charge for the connecting charter bus ride between the ski weeks. This cost will be determined at time of final payment and is dependent on the number of participants using this service. Contact us for all the details about doing multiple weeks.
