Skiman and his guide friend of many trips, Phillipe… This guy is a rock star guide and will once again lead the backcountry groups into off-trail paradise that is Trois Vallees.

CLICK for a short video from our 2007 Ski Movie to see how amazing these two resorts are!

In the 1960’s, the French government had a vision and a mission: find the perfect mountainous region in which to build a series of ski resorts, all connected by the biggest lift system in the world. They flew all over the French Alps in helicopters to discover the optimum place to fulfill their goal. They succeeded and the result is what today is known as the Trois Vallees (Three Valleys) ski complex. Made up of three world-class resorts, Meribel,

Courchevel, and Val Thorens. It is difficult to describe just how massive this resort is. It is the one of the largest ski complexs on the planet, with 373 miles of designated groomed trails and 183 lifts. You can alsmot fit all of the ski resort terrain of Colorado, California, and Utah INSIDE of Trois Vallees! Suffice it to say: you cannot ski this all in months. It is spectacular.

Morningstar has done four ski weeks in this region and has taken 300 skiers to this resort. Everyone came away awestruck at the immensity and diversity of terrain.  All of the resorts are connected by ski trails, so you can explore a long way and visit several villages via skis.

The challenge of Trois Vallees skiing can be affordability. The biggest and some of the best skiing comes at a price. We found a good way to offer our skiers an affordable way to experience this region without the sticker shock. When France hosted the Olympics here years ago, they connected the small thermal spa village of Brides les Bain (pronounced breed le bon) to Meribel which is in the center of the ski region, via a 25 minute gondola ride. Our hotel, The Amelie, is a few minutes walk to the gondola station and a short gondola ride to the center of it all. Located along a rushing river in the middle of a thermal spa village, The Amelie was wonderful on our previous visits. It was a very nice three star hotel then and it has recently been remodeled and updated further. It is within walking distance of the thermal spa complex and a large casino in town. The food was excellent, and we liked everything about this property. It offers very nice accommodations in an expensive ski resort and is still only a short gondi ride to the skiing action.

Guided groups: For experts the backcountry off-trail skiing in the Alps is spectacular and it is why we have been returning for decades. We always offer guided expert groups to access this terrain safely. We are also offering the same guided experience for intermediate and expert skiers who want to explore the trails and get some skiing pointers along the way. Led by local guides, these guided days are pricey for one or two skiers, but by have groups of 7 to divide the cost, it is very affordable. If you are an expert skier, you really must do this with us!

Air to Europe: You procure their air from their U.S. You will leave the U.S, on March 14, 2025 arriving into Geneva GVA airport before noon March 15, 2025. Do not buy air until our minimum trip size has been reached.   Return air: March 22, 2025.  Do NOT schedule any return earlier than 11 AM. Note: It might be necessary to arrive a day earlier into Geneva if you cannot find air that arrives at the required time.

Doing both ski weeks:  Make the most from their airfare and stay for both ski weeks. If you have the resources and the time, a great idea. Note: There will be a surcharge for the transfer between the two ski weeks for those doing both weeks. This will be determined once we know the exact number of two-week participants. The distance between and Le Gran Masif  and  Trois Vallees is about 1.5.hours. We will organize the most economical mode of transport depending on the number of participants that need to be transported.

BUY TRIP INSURANCE   Never leave the country without it. It not only covers trip cancellation, but it covers $100,000 of emergency medical, medical evacuation, trip interruption and delay, baggage, and more. We never do a trip without it.

Do NOT buy trip insurance until the minimum participant number has been reached and we have given a go-ahead on the purchase of the trip insurance and your air purchase.

In short, Trois Vallees has it all when it comes to skiing. Every serious rider should experience this resort at least once in their lives. For Skiman this will be week 5.  He cannot wait to go back. He’s only scratched the surface of this ski behemoth.
